Music Monday~

With the rise of Hallyu and teaching middle school girls, it was inevitable that this theme post was going to be created. So, hopefully each week, we are going to share some Korean tunes with you.

Our first song was no hard choice, seeing as this song is everywhere and most Koreans can't say "okey dokey" without breaking into laughter.

From my in depth Googling, Show Me the Money is a rap competition that is has shone a light on Korean hip hip and is even holding auditions in America. It aired back in 2012 and is currently on its fifth season. Its mechanics run like any other singing competition, contestant go head to head until there is one winner. The more experienced rappers act as mentors and judges for the newer rappers, in this case Zico was a mentor to Song Min-ho (stage name: Mino)

In this season over 7000 contestants auditioned but Mino was the runner-up. Many think this is because he is already quite experienced, being from the boy band Winner. Honestly, it was quite clear to me that this wasn't his first time on a stage!

After some more academic researching, I discovered that he was actually criticised by the Korean Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists because the lyrics apparently "defamed Korean women's health" and he had to write a formal apology... guess I have to start working on my Hangul!

Controversy aside, we both think this song is pretty catchy and freakin' hype!
